Expressions of Love for the Three Victims Of The Chapel Hill Shooting “May They RIP”

“Inna lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un (إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ) To God we belong, and to Him we shall return.”10516669_384357955070699_2122582201327715877_n

The newly married young couple and the sister of the wife were shot execution style in the head in Chapel Hill Shooting. Senseless and tragic act of terror by Craig Stephen Hicks (46) took three lives (Deah Shaddy Barakat (23), his wife, Yusor Mohammad (21), and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha (19)), “My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the victims and to the local community for this senseless and tragic act of terror.

After the tragic events in Chapel Hill this past week on Tuesday, February 10th, we witnessed Americans – of every race and denomination – express their love by community service. It was a time of mourning for all Americans and the response from our community was breathtaking. We also saw the increased dedication and expression of love from the MASA community in tribute to #OurThreeWinners that we lost far too early.

“Anti-religion statements of the alleged perpetrator, the religious attire of two of the victims and the rising anti-Muslim rhetoric in America, I urge all law enforcement authorities to quickly address speculation of a possible bias motive in this case.

We need to adjust our message, not just as peaceful Muslims who engage the American political process, but as Muslims, women, Blacks, Latinos, and other minorities who work to dismantle the unjust forces, policies, and practices that we continuously face. I have hope for the future. I have hope that with this newfound unity we will achieve justice and find peace. I have hope that people will not be seen as threats for the color of their skin or the religious symbols they wear. I have hope that all people will be treated with dignity and not exploited and used. In times like these we can’t fill our hearts with hatred, that’ the easy way out. It’s easier to get a gun rather than start a conversation. A reminder that there is always Power through Participation.

“No one has the right to insult, provoke or make fun about other people faith, every religion has its own dignity”, freedom of expression or freedom of religion has its limits. “Religion is a personal belief – not a state affair and a tool of injustice that humiliate human beings”!
